Hello, Parents of KCS Youth Members,
First and foremost, we would like to thank all of you for letting your children be a part of the KCS Youth family.
KCS Youth is a committee within KCS that allows children, also known as the youth, to help their fellow community in meeting new people, participating in fundraising events, sharing innovative ideas, and much more fun activities.
We would like to announce our first youth event, Squad Up, that runs over a course of three weeks from Feb 14th to March 6th. Squad Up registration is free!
Youth participants will be paired with other youth in the DMV and have to complete a challenge online for points. Each week, there will be a new challenge and each participant will be paired up with a different group. The youth participant with the most points will win a very special prize that will be announced on March 9th.
March 9th will be a conclusion day filled with fun activities for our youth community to get to know each other and participate in a lot of team building, leadership, and informational sessions that will be useful in the future for the youth.
The Youth Team can benefit your children in many ways. It looks very good in college applications. Whether your child is 10 years old or 17 years old, colleges like to see that your child is involved in their culture and that they have the ability to work in a team with others. The Youth Team will run team events where older and younger children mix, and there is a need for each child to work as part of the team in some capacity. Students will also receive Student Service Learning Hours through the service projects over the year.
Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions and I hope to see your children and youth friends participating!
